Publisher and developer Sabotage has announced that the final content drop for its acclaimed JRPG Sea of Stars, dubbed the Sunset Edition update, is now live across all platforms. To celebrate the occasion, the title is also discounted by 50% on Steam for the very first time.
The Sea of Stars: Sunset Edition update adds a new cinematic intro, described as “our highest budget one yet, which puts faces on heroes from the past known until now only by name,” better framing the memorable adventure that follows.
Sea of Stars Sunset Edition Update Now Live
Those of us who’ve completed Sea of Stars need only start a new game to see the new intro cinematic in all its glory.
Its introduction also allowed the team to “expand a key flashback later in the game with extra sprite-based storytelling.”
In addition, Sea of Stars’ Sunset Edition update also revisits the balancing for both the normal and hard modes.
The Tactician’s Mettle relic has had its attributes split into two separate relics – Tactician’s Mettle and Ray of Sunset – enabling a normal playthrough “that demands more grit.”
With Sea of Stars development winding down almost three years after its launch, developer Sabotage is working on its next title, codenamed Project Sparrow.
Its pre-production phase has run in parallel “for more than a year”, the title recently entering full production.
Sadly, the developer hasn’t shared much else about its upcoming game, but knowing there’s more on the horizon from its talented team is bound to put fans at ease.
Sea of Stars’ Sunset Edition update is reason enough to revisit one of the best JRPGs of the past years, while its 50% Steam discount makes it an excellent time to hop in if you’ve yet to accompany Vaelre and Garl on their journey.
