2K Games has announced DLC for Civilization V and that they both release this week. A new map pack is revealed as well as an all-new civilization to play. We get to play as the "Polynesian kingdoms" with new tech and social policies to explore, including the Maori Warrior and the Moai. The map pack is free.
A new Civilization V patch has landed; this one is version 1.0.1.217. As has been the case with other Civilization V patches, the fix list is obscenely long. Most of the patch is concerned with gameplay balance tweaking, but if you've been having issues with load times, memory leaks and crashes to Windows, you're in luck - this patch addresses those as well.
During a talk at the Wedbush Morgan Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference yesterday, Take-Two revealed high figures for several franchises from 2K Games and Rockstar. 2K's BioShock series has sold over 8 million units since its launch in 2005 on Xbox 360, which was later released for PlayStation 3. We would be interested to see sale differences between the first and second BioShock, but this hasn't been revealed. BioShock Infinite is currently in development and will be the third release in the series.

Stardock Games' Brad Wardell is excited that we're about to "make this jump to 64-bit" in PC gaming, which gives us "essentially unlimited memory" to play with. It's "what’s holding us back" right now but 64-bit can set us free. PC will be "so far ahead" if consoles neglect 64-bit in the future. Graphics are "kind of at a standstill".
Civilization developer Firaxis Games was working on an "unannounced UnrealEngine3 title" for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC as late as July 2010 says résumé. Former Firaxis man Chris Doyle mentioned the project on his online profile. Meanwhile character artist David M Jones' CV says Revolution II was canned.
Firaxis has announced the latest Civilization V civ and scenario pack, and lock up your women and children, it's Denmark and will feature those feared invaders: the Vikings. The Denmark civilization will feature powerful Berserkers and James Bond-ish Ski Infantry as the civ's specialty units. The Denmark ruler will be Harald Bluetooth (920 – 986 AD), who was King of Denmark for nearly 30 years. During his reign, he united the earls of Denmark and Norway and defended his people from invasion from Sweden and Germany. Today he is viewed as a just and wise king of Denmark.

Firaxis Games has sent out a short but sweet notice that Civilization World would be going into open beta sometime in the next week or two. The Facebook-based game has been enjoying an alpha test, so apparently, the build has advanced enough to have an open test.
The Facebook version of Sid Meier's famous strategy game, Civilization World, is now in open beta for all who want to check it out. Meier himself worked on the social network-powered Civ title.
A new Civilization V hotfix patch has been released to tweak multiplayer, chiefly due to hotseat issues. There are also some fixes to gameplay balances and minor bug fixes.
Videogame legend Sid Meier promises that for "as long as fans keep asking", the Civilization series will keep on releasing for PC. It's gone console, mobile and social. The long-running IP has "roots in PC gaming" and won't neglect them. Meier would also "love to make another version" of Alpha Centauri but they don't own it.
This Thursday, Civilization 5 fans will be able to buy some new downloadable content, including a new civ - Korea - with an attached scenario, and three new maps which were the winners of the Wonders of the Ancient World scenario. Take-Two head Strauss Zelnick revealed that overall the Grand Theft Auto franchise has shipped a huge 114 million copies to retailers during its lifetime. Grand Theft Auto IV has cleared 22 million of that grand total. CEO Zelnick also gave away some other key title numbers, although L.A. Noire is missing.

Stardock has announced a new bundle, Galactic Civilizations II Ultimate Edition, which will be released on Steam and GameStop's freshly acquired Impulse, and includes the original game as well as the Dark Avatar and Twilight of the Arnor expansions.

The Civilization creator "used to love to challenge" the player's imagination with "a few pixels in 16 colours" and try to convince them "they're ruling an empire" through the ages.
