2K Games has announced DLC for Civilization V and that they both release this week. A new map pack is revealed as well as an all-new civilization to play. We get to play as the "Polynesian kingdoms" with new tech and social policies to explore, including the Maori Warrior and the Moai. The map pack is free.

A new Civilization V patch has landed; this one is version 1.0.1.217. As has been the case with other Civilization V patches, the fix list is obscenely long. Stardock Games' Brad Wardell is excited that we're about to "make this jump to 64-bit" in PC gaming, which gives us "essentially unlimited memory" to play with. Firaxis has announced the latest Civilization V civ and scenario pack, and lock up your women and children, it's Denmark and will feature those feared invaders: the Vikings. The Denmark civilization will feature powerful Berserkers and James Bond-ish Ski Infantry as the civ's specialty units. Firaxis Games has sent out a short but sweet notice that Civilization World would be going into open beta sometime in the next week or two. The Facebook-based game has been enjoying an alpha test, so apparently, the build has advanced enough to have an open test.
