Gears of War 3 getting update later today News

Gears of War 3 will be getting a new update at 9:00AM GMT today. The patch, which will be the fourth update for the game, will auto-update when the player boots the game while connected to Xbox Live. The update has a couple of tweaks and additions, including a "SWAT turn" for some of the creatures in Beast Mode, an "X" crosshair that will appear when a shot is blocked, and some tweaks such as the firing rate of the pistol being increased. Some annoying bugs have been ironed out as well, such as the “Waiting For Players” message when a host quits Horde during the progression screen.

Bleszinski wanted more "Band of Brothers" than "dude-bro" for Gears of War News

Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski claims he intended Gears of War to have the same vibe as Band of Brothers and "take it a lot more serious." Epic hadn't made a story-based game for a while though. As a result Gears of War didn't strike the serious tone Bleszinski envisioned. Moving forward he wants "Christopher Nolan type dialogue" and much less "Tim Burton or Joel Schumacher".

Notch: "Indies are saving gaming, EA is methodically destroying it" News

Minecraft creator Markus 'Notch' Persson is angry with publisher EA for daring to put together an 'EA Indie Bundle' on Steam. "That's not how that works, EA," twittered the Mojang founder. He called them a "bunch of cynical b*stards." Notch added that indies are saving the industry, whilst EA are "methodically destroying it." Mojang's indie days are gone, admits Notch.

New Gears of War game to be announced at E3 News

Epic Games has announced that there will be no new Gears of War 3 downloadable content released. Why? Apparently, they've been focusing all of their work on a new Gears of War game that will be announced during Microsoft's E3 press conference.

Rumour: Next Gears of War due February 2013 News

Epic Games' Gears of War: Judgement is heading for a February release next year according to publisher sources, while Microsoft reassert their "early 2013" stance. It'll be at Comic-Con. Judgement is a prequel to the trilogy, developed by both Epic's North Carolina team and Bulletstorm's People Can Fly. It follows Damon Baird and Augustus 'Cole Train' Cole.

Epic Games has announced that the company has hired WB Games Seattle general manager Laura Fryer to take over that role with the company. Fryer owns more than seventeen years experience in the industry, and worked for Microsoft as the executive producer of Gears of War and Gears of War 2.

It has been confirmed that Microsoft and Epic have included a digitally redeemable copy of the original Gears of War for Xbox 360 in every of Gears of War: Judgment while "launch quantities" last. Gears of War: Judgment demo releases March 19th, early access to pre-orders News

Microsoft will be releasing a multiplayer demo for Gears of War: Judgment featuring the new OverRun mode, which is a class and object-based showdown between 5-player teams of Locust and COG. Should you pre-order from GameStop in the US, then you'll receive access to the demo as early as March 15th. There is also a character skin and Lambent weapon skin.
