Firaxis has announced that this weekend Civilization V will be free from Friday through to 1:00PM PDT (4:00PM EDT, 9:00PM GMT) on the 9th June. Gamers who like what they're playing will be able to purchase the game at 75% off up til 10:00AM PDT (1:00PM EDT, 6:00PM GMT).

Today an update for Civilization V will be adding three new multiplayer modes, with two addressing how player turns are handled and the last - Pitboss - letting players connect, take turns and then disconnect to return later. The Firaxis team has also added 'Observer' mode to watch multiplayer games unfold. There are a number of UI tweaks and some adjustments to military AI behaviours.

Retail version of Civil War II coming 2nd October News

UK developer Ageod's grand strategy game Civil War II was released digitally on the 17th September 2013, the 151st anniversary of the bloodiest battle in the war, the Battle of Antietam. The game will be out in retail on the 2nd October.

Firaxis has announced that two new map packs based on the Scramble for Africa scenario from the Brave New World expansion will be coming to Civilization V. Basically, the "scrambled" map packs are recreations of a country or a continent, but with randomized resources and natural wonders.

1.01 patch for Civil War II adds new scenario in addition to fixes News

Ageod has released the 1.01 update for Civil War II, their grand strategy game set during the American conflict. The patch fixes minor bugs in the Terrain, the Maps, Abilities spelled incorrectly, but also adds new features including Indian Home guard units in KS (thanks to Ol'Choctaw), and Texas-Mexico border trade, as well as a bonus The West Campaign scenario.

Take-Two has "more than 10 unique titles" for Xbox One and PS4 News

During the Q2 2014 earnings call for Take-Two, the company has revealed they have "more than 10 unique" next-gen titles in the works, and that includes "multiple releases" for fiscal 2015. What are they? CEO Strauss Zelnick continued saying they're "new intellectual properties" as well as from "proven franchises," but no specifics were given. The 2K family is quite large.
