Ubisoft announced today that Prince of Persia will be released on 2nd December for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Set in a land rooted in ancient Persian mythology, the Prince finds himself caught in an epic battle between the primal forces of light and darkness: the God of Light, Ormazd versus his brother Ahriman, the destructive God of Darkness. The Prince arrives just in time to witness the destruction of the legendary Tree of Life - an act which threatens to plunge the entire world into eternal darkness. Manifested in the form of the Corruption, a dark substance that physically contaminates the land and the skies, the Prince must partner with Elika, a deadly companion, to heal the world from the evil Corruption.

After the recent confusion over whether or not Prince of Persia will support the ever-popular trophy system on the PlayStation 3, we can finally confirm that it will. Much has been made about the potential of rewarding players for their actions, and it's fair to say that the majority will rejoice about this. Many major sources may have led us to believe that the Prince was to return without an award in hand, but the latest build from the Tokyo Games Show 2008 enables us to believe otherwise. It seems many of the early trophies are based around new gameplay mechanics that allow the player to get into the rhythm of the Prince's new flow.

Jordan Mechner, creator of Prince of Persia, has trademarked 'The Forgotten Sands' as the next entry in the series. Marc-Antoine Senecal is working the character models. At least that's what the Ubi art man's online CV says, he's "working on the new" game and has been since "August 2009" to the present. Trademarks and online CVs strike again!
Jordan Mechner created Prince of Persia, but he doesn't have "a preconception" of what it'll look like in a decade's time. It's in a "good place" because it's scattered and free to explore. The Prince of Persia franchise "isn't locked into one place," and the next game will be taking the "best parts" of previous titles "and build from there." Will death be re-introduced then?

They wouldn't elaborate past dropping that juicy tease of an announcement, saying it's "not their place" to spill details on the videogame project.

The upcoming Ubi game is releasing alongside the theatrical debut of Prince of Persia, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as our time flexible hero. Cut scenes for the title, or "linear elements", run for approximately 90 minutes. The BBFC has slapped it with a '12' rating, so that's grand.
The upcoming new Prince of Persia action adventure will retail this May 14th, two days after it releases in the US. The movie is out in May too. The Wii version uses "advanced technologies" say Ubi, for "smooth, clear" and "impressive" graphics. It's got about 15 hours of story to it.
Animation boss Jan-Erik Sjovall of Ubisoft says that old Prince of Persia fans have jumped on God of War, and now they'd like to win them back. Most say that Prince of Persia just isn't "hard enough," so they want Forgotten Sands to bring back oldies and win "a new audience" as well.
