Back during this year's E3, Todd Howard took to the stage during Bethesda's dedicated press conference to announce that the world of Fallout 4 would eventually be shifted over to VR. Being a game of massive scale, Fallout 4 VR will be, when it launches, one of the biggest open-world landscapes you can explore in virtual reality. And in a recent interview with Glixel, he talks about his confidence in the ongoing project.

When it comes to modders, there are some wonderful creations out there that take creativity to absurdly intricate levels. That said, you hardly ever expect a major graphics tech developer to get in on the action like Nvidia. Though if it is going to be Nvidia, it might as well be one of the best looking mods out there, right? Well, we've got news for you. Nvidia is playing the game, and it comes in the form of Vault 1080 for Fallout 4 from their Lightspeed Studio.
The penultimate piece of Fallout 4 DLC now has a release date, and you’ll be playing it later this month. The Vault-Tec Workshop pack is another add-on for the post-apocalyptic RPG’s building metagame, letting you construct your own version of the series’ iconic underground vaults. You’ll be able to attract dwellers to your vault and conduct all sorts of wild experiments on them.
If you were even a little bit upset that Codsworth couldn’t say your name in Fallout 4, maybe the latest update (released yesterday on PC) will cheer you up a bit. Bethesda have released update 1.6 to Fallout 4 which adds a cool new ExitSave feature, creates new add-on specific icons in Workshop mode, and, more importantly adds 300 new names to Codworth’s vocabulary. Here are the patch notes in full:
The future of VR just got significantly brighter. One of the biggest criticisms I hear about VR is the lack of support from big developers. If you buy an HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, you can expect to play a lot of new and innovative indie games, but some people just want to play AAA titles. Well, thanks to Bethesda, there’s going to be plenty to try out next year, specifically Fallout 4 VR. Now we know what you may be thinking: is it just a small segment of Fallout 4 or is it the full game? Todd Howard, Director and Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios, confirmed on Twitch.TV that this will be the complete version of Fallout 4.
At their press conference tonight, Bethesda announced the second wave of Fallout DLC.
E3 is upon us! The Electronic Entertainment Expo has infiltrated the Los Angeles Convention Center, filling its halls with the latest and greatest games all the big publishers want you to know about. GameWatcher will be on hand to report the biggest news and give you hands-on coverage of the show's top games. The show floor doesn't officially open until Tuesday, but most of the big news will be revealed through the press conferences scheduled for Sunday and Monday.
Are you tired of looking at the brown and grey colour palette of Fallout 4? There’s a mod for that. Resurrection creates a blanket of green across the desolate landscapes of the Commonwealth, dressing it with grass, leaves and even flowers. The mod (which is still in beta) is intended to bring a summery feeling to Boston. It incorporates ‘wild jungle ambient sound’ for a more realistic experience and introduces new landscape and building textures. This video exhibits the Resurrection mod along with a number of others including, ‘Photorealistic Commonwealth’ and ‘Grasslands’. For more information on how to achieve the look displayed in the video, check out the description.
Reddit user/dataminer flashman7870 may have discovered the name of the next DLC in Fallout 4 – Nuka World. In the screenshot below, you can see the hex editor display the following: DLCNukaWorld.esm, DLCworkshop02.esm, DLCworkshop03.esm. Most (if not all) Bethesda games use the .esm file extension to indicate game files. Every DLC expansion (specifically for Bethesda games) purchased on Steam arrives in the form of a .esm file, so it would appear flashman7870 has found the right file.
Bethesda has announced that the next DLC for Fallout 4 called Far Harbor will be releasing on 19th May for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Far Harbor is the third add-on for Fallout 4 and will cost £19.99. There's a new case from Valentine’s Detective Agency that leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. The add-on is located off the coast of Maine on a mysterious island called Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world. There's going to be plenty of conflicts to deal with between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople.
After six long months, Bethesda have finally given mod makers the tools they need to start customising Fallout 4 in any way they want to. In the video found at the bottom of this article, Bethesda mention that this Creation Kit program is the same tool they use to work on the game, so mod makers should rejoice that they aren’t getting a watered down experience. The Creation Kit this time around is integrated with Bethesda’s website. It looks similar to the Steam Workshop interface, but it seems to work a lot better with a controller. This will be the first Bethesda game to support mods on console, it makes sense why the developers would put so much time to make the experience of downloading mods as simple as possible.
I keep hearing Fallout 4’s second piece of DLC, Wasteland Workshop, compared to Pokemon, and a wasteland-bound creature-collecting adventure sounds okay by me.
This should put a smile back on your face after that pretty appalling cliffhanger at the end of Season 6. The first season of the show has been recreated using Fallout 4 by YouTube user UpIsNotJump. Using console commands and mods made by the community and himself, UpIsNotJump has managed to perfectly replicate key scenes from the first series, with voice-overs and grotesque looking Ghouls.
Fallout 4’s DLC is finally starting to roll out, with Automatron having hit late last month. Now, the latest addition has a release date and trailer.
Bethesda certainly turned some heads when they nearly doubled the price of Fallout 4’s Season Pass. They made some vague claims about the size of the add-ons, but Bethesda’s head of PR put it in far more concrete terms.
If you've been eagerly awaiting the launch of Fallout 4's Survival Mode, you'll be pleased to know that Bethesda has confirmed on Twitter that it will be launching on Steam in beta next week. The Survival Mode is essentially a hardcore mode, which makes a few changes to the game, like only allowing you to save your progress by sleeping in a bed. If you've played a lot of Fallout 4 you'll know that it's impossible to sleep if there's danger nearby, so you'll need to deal with that danger before you can save your progress. Fast-travel has been removed, enemies won't appear on your radar, ammo has its own weight and you'll take more damage too.
Just a month ago Bethesda dealt out details on Fallout 4’s DLC plans (and nearly doubled its price[/url], and the first piece of content is very nearly out.
While Bethesda has started to become a prolific publisher, their development has begun and ended with Fallout and the Elder Scrolls. A hint may have just slipped out about what they’re working on next.
Bethesda's Todd Howard stated in a long interview that official mod support will be coming to Fallout 4 this coming April, with the console versions coming some time after.
What a world we live in where you can beta test patches for theoretically finished games! You can beta test a patch! Let that sink in for a minute!
