Good news for those who enjoyed Larian Studios' excellent, if occasionally incomprehensible fantasy RPG Divinity: Original Sin - the game's getting an Enhanced Edition for consoles later this year, and owners of the PC version will find their copy upgraded to the new edition for free. There is a caveat. Because this new version is a markedly different experience, it will be a completely separate game. Any saves you have won't transfer over.

There's a new instalment to the Divinity series from Belgian developer Larian Studios. Divinity: Original Sin will be getting back to its Ultima VII roots of inspiration as it ditches third-person. It'll be an isometric RPG akin to the original Divine Divinity. In fact the new game ends where the first begins. It supports co-op for two players. Combat will be a turn-based affair.

Larian CEO Sven Vinke doesn’t believe in DLC, hoping that gamers will create custom content for his games themselves. Larian CEO Sven Vinke wasn’t happy with how the company’s previous game, Divinity II: Ego Draconis, turned out. Speaking to Strategy Informer, Vinke commented that whenever he looks at Divinity II, all he sees are the compromises that he had to make: "When I look at Divinity II I see Butt Compromises. I know what it could have been... I think with Dragon Knight Sage we managed to rectify it a bit, it was an ok game, but it’s not what I had in mind when I wrote it. You should see the original document, the ideas that I wanted to do with this."

Larian would consider bringing their upcoming RPG Divinity: Original Sin to console, CEO Sven Vinke has commented, but that Dragon Commander wouldn't work anymore. Speaking to Strategy Informer, Vinke mentioned that a console version of Original Sin was simply down to finance and development: "Original Sin makes sense on console for me, I think, if you do it split screen. Couch co-op would be great... that's purely a financial aspect, we just need to develop it."
