Cher Wang, the chairwoman of Chinese tech manufacturer HTC, has told the BBC that she hopes a Half-life video game will be released for her company's virtual-reality headset. HTC is teaming up with the classic franchise's creator Valve to put its VR hardware on the market, so it's not quite as outlandish a hope as it initially sounds. Still, as we all know, any Half-Life news must be accompanied by the caveat, "probably not going to happen."

According to the February issue of Game Informer magazine, any fans hoping for some episode 3 of Half-Life 2 will be sorely disappointed. Episode 2 debuted in 2007 as an expansion but also as part of The Orange Box. Gabe Newell affirmed last year number 3 is still on.

Boss Gabe Newell of Valve has confirmed to a fan site that their "surprise" replacing Portal 2 at E3 2010 next week isn't Half-Life 2's Episode 3. He also called the image with the Half-Life logo and Gordon Freeman's name with the date "14th June" as a total fake. The 14th is Valve's E3 day.
The arrival of Source Engine 2 is to be Valve's surprise at E3 2010 according to a source (the blabbermouth kind, not the engine tech kind). It's also "possible" that we'll catch a glimpse of Half-Life 3 running on it, but then again Unicorns maybe declared real just as 'possibly'.
Peter Molyneux has explained how his son's video plea to Valve came about, saying his son Lucas "has this obsession" with making a video of his own. The studio boss was at home working, filming a promotion for Fable III when his son seized an opportunity. Lucas is "always talking about" Half-Life 3.
Before Half-Life cemented PC developer Valve in most gamers' hearts forever, Gabe Newell reveals they had plans to release a submarine title. The boss says that no idea 'ever really dies' at Valve, it's more a question of "how long until we get around" to it. It's their "furthest back" unshipped project.
Gabe Newell has started hinting around that it would be "fun" to remake the original Half-Life in HD. During Episode 48 of the Steamcast podcast, Newell replied to a question that if there were a remake of the game from 1998, if the cut content would be restored, "No, I think we'd just invent new stuff. I mean, I think we're much better game designers and developers than we were back then. It'd be fun to go back and do a remake."
Some gamers may remember the stuttering issue that p-p-p-p-p-p-plagued the original Half-Life 2 several years ago. Unfortunately, a large number of 2011 players are reporting the same issues with the PC version of Human Revolution, rife with freezing and falling frames per second - and the problem is striking high-end rigs as well.

Just a custom Half-Life 3 T-shirt by a Valve employee as sort of a prank - or a leak?
A voice actor has told a prominent magazine that they had recorded dialog for the long-delayed final chapter of the Half-Life 2 episodic trilogy, Half-Life 2: Episode Three.
Gabe Newell has launched a firestorm of speculation. After the group 4Chan wrote a bizarre, incomprehensible joint letter to Gabe Newell after Wheatley’s appearance on the Spike TV Videogame Awards. Newell responded to 4Chan's letter with,“I don’t suppose it would ease your wrath if I told you we’re announcing all of your favourite things at E3 2012?” He then added: “something with a ‘three’ in it.”
A Steam Group calling themselves 'A Call for Communication (Half-Life)' is now 10k members strong and they're campaigning for fans to be given more Half-Life info. It's been a "frustrating experience" getting nothing from Valve over the series' future, and while it's "greatly appreciated" the support current titles are getting, they want a word or two on Half-Life.
Impulse, the digital distributor now owned by videogame retailer GameStop, has announced that select Valve titles will now be available for purchase on the service.
Valve boss Gabe Newell pins hopes on constant innovation, and so if it starts to struggle then they'd consider releasing hardware themselves, despite probably being rubbish at it. It would be a last resort but a necessary one to "get these kind of projects started" - it's "definitely not the first thought" they have at Valve, but they'd take on the challenge if need be.
Valve have remained quiet on Half-Life 3 due to a number of nagging issues, Gabe Newell has revealed.
Those of you who were hoping that E3 2012 would be the stage for Valve to announce Half-Life 2: Episode Three or even Half-Life 3, forget it. Valve has announced there will be no new games announced at the celebrated videogame conference in June.
