Mount and Blade already has a sizeable modding community, so it's no surprise to hear developer TaleWorlds say it wants to make the process just as easy in forthcoming sequel Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord[b/]. In fact, this time around it will be even simpler to mock up your own in-game version of Game of Thrones or Sengoku Japan according to the studio's founder Armağan Yavuz.
What made me laugh about this Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord trailer, which shows off actual in-game footage for the first time, is that it spends a good couple of minutes stubbornly showing an extended spot of board-gaming. Which is probably not what most Mount and Blade players are looking for, really. Aside from games of tic-tac-toe in your local inn, the sequel to TaleWorlds' open world combat and exploration game adds siege weapons, weapon crafting, seasonal weather conditions and a pretty cool replay editor.
Mount & Blade: Warband Viking Conquest has just received a sizeable free update, a "monumental update" in fact, which adds a bunch of new features including a brand new story, a dog companion, and expanded kingdom management. Titled 'The Last Tuatha De Danann', the new campaign is “set in dark, mysterious Ireland where nothing is what it seems and truths are hidden.”
TaleWorlds Entertainment will be unveiling for the first time the new Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. Unfortunately its live gameplay sessions will be private at Gamescom. The press will get to salivate at the current state of the sequel, which is set two centuries before Mount & Blade Warband but takes the series forward "by greatly expanding gameplay" in all areas.
The bleak world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has just gotten a tad brighter as GOG.com is resurrecting ye olde Gamespy codes for the apocalyptic shooter, which also seem to be activating on Steam as well. This is part of a wider initiative to dust off old game serial keys and get them revived digitally by GOG, who hope to expand what they can turn into a DRM-free copy. TaleWorlds Entertainment has announced a December 11 release date for Mount and Blade: Warband's Viking Conquest DLC, which was externally developed by the team behind the popular 'Brytenwalda' mod. To go along with the announcement, they've also released a live action trailer for the new expansion, featuring burly men hacking each other to bits with axes.
The cRPG mod was a neat addition to Mount & Blade: Warband which added persistent character development and an RPG-style leveling system to the medieval open world game's multiplayer. It was lots of fun. Now the modding team behind it, the excellently named Donkey Crew, have opened a Kickstarter campaign for their own medieval combat game, Melee: Battlegrounds.
It's been a while since we've heard anything regarding Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord, the sequel to everyone's favourite slightly clunky open-world strategy/combat game. Paradox has revealed developer Taleworlds has free DLC for action-RPG Mount & Blade: Warband, which adds 3 new maps and achievements. It's completely free for owners of the game. The achievements, like 'Mace in yer face!', are exclusive to Steam users. The DLC is out now to get.
TaleWorlds has released the next game in the Mount & Blade series, With Fire and Sword. This standalone expansion takes place in 17th century Eastern Europe, and is based on the novel of the same name by Henryk Sienkiewicz.
Fredrik Wester, Paradox Interactive CEO, has claimed it a "release" to not be reliant on retailer sales for their games, which are now "like a bonus". He notes we "don't really need" retail chains any more, which have "not been good" for the industry - stifling creativity. It's "really relieving" to speak about it.
Developer Flying Squirrel Entertainment has announced that they will be officially releasing a fan-made mod for their strategy title Mount & Blade: Warband. The premium DLC, "Napoleonic Wars", will add over 220 unique units including engineers, artillery and... musicians in this 19th century era mod. The game also includes a "Commander Battles" mode in which the player is put in charge of a squad of bots.
