We're told this is "a project we've always dreamt about doing," and not just for the internal devs. Some have noted that Paradox has expressed a desire to boldly go to man's final frontier before, i.e. space. Could this be a grand strategy set among the stars? If so, what shape would it take? Real-time or turn-based?

It's Monday and that means we're one step closer to Gamescom in August and the unveiling of Paradox Development Studio's secret-but-not-too-secret Project Augustus. Today also means it's time for Teaser #3. The last tease told us that "Seven and Three are important numbers," but now we learn "there will be no stabbing of pigs." It seems porcine sacrifices are out of the question.

Paradox Interactive begin "every weekday" teaser campaign for Project Augustus, to reveal at Gamescom News

The brand new IP that Paradox Development Studio is working on will be announced in full at Gamescom next month, but until then we'll be subjected to small teasers "every weekday" until they finally unveil the truth. This will be the internal studio's "first new major IP" since Crusader Kings debuted over a decade ago. Teaser #2 tells us Seven and Three "are important numbers." We're then told to enjoy our weekend.

Paradox Interactive's Magicka 2 launches today on PC News

The second instalment of 'irresponsible misanthrope' wizards adventuring together has arrived with Magicka 2 out today. The robed spell-flingers return in both single-player and co-op beam-crossing action. All game modes in Magicka 2 support up to 4-player co-op with friendly fire always on for "hilarious disasters". The new artifacts system will change-up the game rules every time.

World of Tanks and The Banner Saga "filtered out" by Paradox Interactive, "not always our money to make" News

If you ask whether Paradox Interactive would have liked to have published MMO World of Tanks and surprise hit The Banner Saga, then surely they'd jump at the chance? Not so, reveals VP of acquisition, Shams Jorjani. Paradox actually had the opportunity to sign them but didn't "due to them not matching our pillars," they explained. CEO Fred Wester adds they "weren't sure about the business model" for World of Tanks.

Galactic Inheritors by former Paradox Interactive devs, space 4X on Steam Early Access next week News

Former Paradox Interactive designer Chris King and programmer Pontus Åberg now reside at the newly founded Crispon Games, an indie based in Stockholm. They've partnered up with Argonauts Interactive. Their first title is Galactic Inheritors, which is a space 4X that's due to invade Steam Early Access next week. It's a "hard-core 4X science fiction" strategy, paying homage to Master of Orion.

Paradox Interactive kicks off weekend Steam sale with Crusader Kings 2 News

Paradox Interactive is having a Steam sale this weekend, with a different game from the studio on offer every day from now until Sunday October 5, and several compilation packs on offer from strategy to sci-fi and horror. The first title on offer is the excellent Crusader Kings 2, which is on sale at 70% off along with its 43 (!) different content packs. If for some mad reason you need convincing to pick up CK2, you can play it for free this weekend.

Pseudo Interactive closes down News

Pseudo Interactive, the developers for the car combat series Full Auto, published by Sega and released on the Xbox 360 and PS3, have been shut down. Pseudo were working on an unannounced project for Sci and Eidos, but both companies decided to scrap the project that Pseudo was working on. This eventually lead to its downfall, but it did try to continue by making several staff members redundant, but it didn't set a new deal with another publisher in time to survive.

In a recent interview with Strategy Informer, to be published later today, Tom Soderlund, producer at Paradox Interactive, said that the company is considering porting the exclusive PC Turn-based strategy, Elven Legacy, to consoles via the Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Network. "We are considering it. The console audience is becoming more and more important, but we feel that the target group for Elven Legacy are still predominantly PC users." said Tom Soderlund.

Paradox Interactive today announced the creation of a new label under the Paradox Interactive company umbrella, Mezmer Games. The new franchise is focused on helping indie developers reach a large audience through digital distribution and alternative channels. The titles will range from action to strategy to adventure games and cost between $9.99 - $19.99. "There are so many high-quality titles out there that show a great deal of potential but never reach the gamers," says Fredrik Wester, Executive Vice President at Paradox Interactive. "Our intention is to be a platform for great games that traditional publishers do not want to invest their time and money. By exclusively releasing the products digitally, we'll be to deliver many niche and developing titles to an audience that would otherwise be unable to purchase the products."
