Another batch of Steam games and apps have been approved by Steam Greenlight, highlighted by the classic Treasure "bullet hell" game Ikaruga, the Enhanced Edition of J.U.L.I.A., an adaptation of Fantasy Flight's Elder Sign, first person adventure Montague's Mount and the sci-fi RTS/RPG/tower defense game Universum: War Front.
Despite initially being planned as a free release over Steam Greenlight, the Slender-inspired mod is now being released in a two versions; a paid edition with added multiplayer and an extra prologue, and a free version with just the main story campaign.
Why no Half-Life XVIII by now? Gabe Newell has commented a little on why they don't just churn out Half-Life sequels, much to the dismay of many, as they decided to tackle multiplayer games instead. Wow. That's the only possible response to this frankly terrifying feat of gaming from a speedrunning team zooming their way through Valve's venerable sci-fi shooter, Half-Life. The team, with members quadrazid, CRASH FORT, coolkid, pineapple, YaLTeR, Spider-Waffle and FELip, managed to complete the game entirely in 20 minutes 41 seconds, an astonishing nine minutes quicker than the previous record of 29 minutes, 41 seconds.
Le Minh, former Valve developer and creator of Counter-Strike, has said he's seen concept artwork for the long-sought-after Half-Life 3, admitting it's "kind of public knowledge" Valve is working on it in secret. He "did see something" belonging to the Half-Life universe, and will "go out on a limb" to say it's Half-Life 3. Minh also saw the "new Left 4 Dead" which "looks great" .
You might not even remember this one. Standalone Half-Life 2 mod NeoTokyo was first released way back in 2008, but now the tactical cyberpunk shooter is available via Steam. As it's a standalone mod you can download it for free, and you won't need to own any other Source Engine-powered games for it to work.
