For those gamers who own an Xbox One, Halo 5: Guardians is shaping up to be one monster of a game, with not only an engaging single player campaign, but a dynamic multiplayer mode and a deeper Forge map creator. 343 Industries is hinting around that PC gamers may get a taste as well in the future, thanks to Windows 10.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer reiterated his desire in an interview with the Brazilian branch of Gizmodo that at some point, he'd like to see Xbox 360 games playable on Windows 10, but there are priorities.

Halo: Spartan Strike, a sequel to last year's twin-stick shooter Halo: Spartan Assault, has been announced for Windows 8 devices and PC by Microsoft. As before, you'll battle a horde of familiar enemies from the Halo universe in a top-down, twin-stick mode. This time around you'll also get new vehicles and abilities, and 30 new missions to complete.
Activision's recently released Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has knocked Halo 3 right out of the top spot for this weeks most played Xbox Live titles. Halo 3 is now in second position, with Guitar Hero 3 being 3rd and Gears of War coming in 4th position.

Bungie has revealed during a recent podcast that its currently working on a new project that isn't in the Halo universe. It'll be “totally different” from the FPS series that the developer is well known for. "We can say... that Bungie's next game, that isn't Halo 3 expansion and DLC-type stuff, this would be something totally different from Bungie," said the developer.
Three maps will be in this 'Legendary' pack and will include Ghost Town, Avalanche and a third waiting in the wings. Recent forum users on a Bungie message board have pointed out that the total enemy kills in the popular online multiplayer game Halo 3 has exceeded the current world population. Official Bungie statistics place the total amount of enemy kills at 6,738,689,827 as of this writing, while many estimates of the world population come in just below that. The world population kills number was past sometime on Saturday June 21st.
From an external survey it would seem Microsoft is pondering outside-the-box strategies for the Halo name, like more 'family friendly' adventures. Participants of the research survey were asked to mark next to each idea on what scale would they be interested in purchasing these Halo games.

According to Sarcastic Gamer a source has revealed that Bungie Studios is in fact working on another Halo game, though there's nothing specific about the details - typical. This could be the rumoured third-person prequel game, or not. One thing's for sure this would count as one of the two big E3 reveals from Microsoft, if you believe that rumour.
