With a heavy history in the design, implementation and execution of multiple different strategy games of the years, Stardock is beginning to take a slightly different approach to some of the genres major sub-systems.

If the rush of shooters didn't phase your genre of choice over the Holiday period, you're probably still getting some worth out of Civilization VI. Usually a likely candidate for a number of expansions down the line, there's one other thing players are looking out for.
Juggling a day job with the time-sink that is game development is asking for trouble. But when you really commit to it, your line of work can sometimes be the thing to push you in the right direction. A fine example would be those working on Galactic Civilizations III - which is about ready to have its next major update.

Does Cleopatra suddenly not want anything to do with you? Is Qin Shi Huang oddly friendly no matter how many times you step on his toes? While some might think the instant denouncement of your Civilization is a mere bug in the system, it actually has solid reasoning behind it.
The modders over at Civ Fanatics have released an earth map mod that reproduces the Earth landscape and it may melt your GPU.
Civilization VI only just released late last week on 20th October, with the launch going very well. It currently sits as the third most played game on Steam, with 99,138 players at its peak and some very positive reviews on the Steam store front. With our review on the way soon, and there's still the excitement that mods will bring once the developers release the tools for it, it looks like Civilization VI will be on our play lists for a long time. That's one of the reasons why we're going to provide a handy little page to keep you updated on all the Civilization VI Patch Notes that come along, and what changes these patches make to the game.
There's a particularly annoying bug in Civ 6 currently that that makes loading either painstakingly long or gets stuck on the loading screen indefinitely. Fear not you budding empire builders, GameWatcher has you covered with a fix that should fix the dreaded loading screen freeze.

Who knew Cleopatra wasn’t just a gambling icon for terrible websites? Look, we can all say we learnt something very important today. Civilization VI recently added Queen Victoria to the game, and now you can play as another playdough-faced babe – Cleopatra. It will be interesting to see whether Cleopatra makes an ally of Julius Caesar in this new instalment - or will history pan out a bit differently? It's up to you! Fans of Civilization seem to be well chuffed at the idea of Egypt becoming a more well-rounded civilization. Egypt has now been given an incentive to build wonders through the adjacency bonus of the UI, a first in the series. Some players have been quick to point out that her new terrain bonus may not be as good as it seems. If you get a bonus for building wonders near rivers, most people are expected to constantly restart the game in order to get the terrain that suits them.
You will never be born into royalty, but you can experience the joys of having power by doing absolutely nothing by playing Civilization VI. Those of you that played Civilization IV back in 2005 will know the joy of playing as Queen Victoria, and now you can do it once again! Queen Vic takes the form of a more youthful lass compared to the old bat version in Civ IV (though she does look a bit like a Wallace and Gromit character, but I’m not one to judge). Some Reddit users have been quick to point out the fact that Victoria is the leader of England rather than Great Britain. Another user (colbyiam) suggested it was because future DLC could include Scotland down the line, but that’s just a theory.
2K Games have just revealed that Civilization VI will be released for the PC on 21st October, 2016. Civilization VI is returning to the series roots and will be set on Earth, with changes to the way cities are shown on the map, as they now grow over tiles depending on how large they become. Armies are also slightly different, with units able to merge with others to form more powerful versions. Think anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers.
Some of Civilization’s designers, including the man himself, Sid Meier, got together at DICE this week to talk on stage about the game’s 25th anniversary and the history of the game’s development.
It seems that people who purchased XCOM 2 already had played XCOM or Civilization V, according to Steam Spy on Twitter. The independent, Patreon-funded Steam watchdog posted graphs of common ownership to prove his point.
Despite the fact that Galactic Civilization 3 left Early Access a while ago, Stardock has been keeping the game up-to-date and fresh at the demands of the community - and more is on the way. We already know, from Stardock’s GalCiv3 roadmap, what will be coming in upcoming patches: 1.6 will include improvements to starbases (as well as substantial AI improvements), 1.7 will have changes to the UI while 1.8 is said to allow for mods.
If you’ve played GalCiv3 at all then you’ll know that it - like so many 4X games before it - suffers from an opponent AI that just doesn’t think of the breadth of options open to it. In fact, it’s a bit of a problem for fans since new additions and changes to the game have created an AI that doesn’t even aim to seek out some of the powerful new additions to the game, from Artifacts in the Precursor DLC to using systems to achieve victory outside of conquest - such as targeting for a research victory as an easy strategy.
