EA's new Command & Conquer, powered by DICE's Frostbite engine, will be going through closed beta this summer and Victory Games want fans to sign up. As it's free-to-play the studio can be 'more responsive'. This new C&C is based off the Generals series, which pits three factions against one another. Much like the original we choose between multiple Generals with varying skills.

Victory Games' upcoming Command & Conquer is a bit less Middle-Eastern with its militant forces after the studio received a "bad reaction from people" citing it as "pretty offensive" - Global Liberation Army now more inclusive. The face of the GLA will "probably just offend everybody," joked Victory's Tim Morten. The game's lore had the GLA rooted in Middle-Eastern culture and support - but now it's actually global, I guess.

EA confirms Gamescom 2013 line-up with "close to 500 gaming stations" News

EA has announced their official list of titles attending this year's Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. They have "close to 500 gaming stations" ready for hands-on play. EA's media conference begins August 20th @ 3pm BST. Battlefield 4, Command & Conquer, FIFA 14, The Sims 4, Need for Speed: Rivals, Titanfall and some mobile titles will be at the EA Booth in Hall 6 at Gamescom. EA will live stream their conference.

The new Command & Conquer will be receiving a story-based campaign in episodic chunks throughout next year, reveals EA during Gamescom 2013. They're for solo and co-operative play. This new C&C is powered by DICE's Frostbite engine and was originally billed as C&C: Generals 2 but later became just 'Command & Conquer' as a free-to-play title.

Humble Origin Bundle passes $9M, headed to $10M News

The Humble Origin Bundle continues to raise gobs of cash for charity, as sales have topped $9M and are headed to $10M. The Bundle includes Dead Space, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space 3, Medal of Honor, and Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, with Battlefield 3, The Sims 3 with two Starter Pack add-ons, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising and Populous for donating more than the average price (currently just under $5 USD.)

DICE's Frostbite 3 engine currently in development with "15+ games" News

Technical director Johan Andersson for Frostbite 3, DICE's proprietary engine, is currently being used in over 15 game projects. He also confirmed the recent AMD Mantle support would 'roll out' to all titles. Known titles using Frostbite 3 include the imminently due Battlefield 4, the announced Star Wars: Battlefront and Mirror's Edge 2. Those three are just with DICE.

A stellar looking remake of Command & Conquer: Renegade is near full release as the Unreal engine powered Renegade-X has gone through extensive testing to bring back the now classic online shooter. Pitting GDI and Nod forces against each other, each team has a base to protect and utilise while they try to destroy the enemy. The community remake began in 2007 and releases in 2014.
