Good Old Games (GoG.com) is giving away Interplay's original classic post-apocalyptic RPG, Fallout, for free for the next two days. This is a part of the digital distributor's campaign to show off its new, redesigned site. The distributor is best known for releasing all of its games completely DRM-free, including The Witcher 2.
The next destination for the Fallout franchise appears to be the city of Boston, if rumours are to be believed. Speculation is high that the story will focus on The Institute, the android making capital. The Institute is the nickname for the actual Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A "may or may not be" MIT employee claims "rumors are true" about the Boston setting. Bethesda is quiet.
Actor Todd Dellums lent his voice to Fallout 3's Three Dog, who hosted a radio show in the Capital Wasteland. A recent tweet from Dellums says there "may be more of the Dog coming!" He was "given permission" by Bethesda to dangle the notion of more Fallout to fans. While not revealing anything more, Dellums did retweet someone pointing to Fallout 4, or a movie.
A user on Reddit has made some waves claiming to be have a friend in public relations with Bethesda with some info about the unannounced Fallout 4, which he claims will be a "direct sequel" to Fallout 3 and will take place in Boston.
Bethesda had a press only presentation behind closed doors at E3 last week, and apparently it was Fallout 4. It's alleged to be coming to Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4 and PC in October 2015 - it's 55% done? It's been in development since January 2011 by a small dev team, according to leaks. Skyrim's development ending beefed up the Fallout 4 effort. A 37 second trailer was shown to attendees.
Bethesda Game Studios has revealed in an interview that the game the developer is working on won't be announced anytime soon, and that gamers shouldn't assume it's Fallout 4.
The polling consumers of retailer Amazon have spoken, or rather voted. Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim managed to beat Naughty Dog's The Last of Us in a tournament for 'Generation's Greatest Game'. Other major contenders were Grand Theft Auto IV, BioShock, Super Mario Galaxy, Portal 2, Uncharted 2, Batman: Arkham City, Far Cry 3, Red Dead Redemption and more.
A new teaser site has been posted by ZeniMax (according to web domain registry) called TheSurvivor2299.com, which features a countdown and a Morse code. News sites and gamers are speculating that the site is teasing Fallout 4.
A few days ago, a website popped up registered by ZeniMax called TheSurvivor2299.com which seemed to be a teaser site for Fallout 4. However, some thought it might be a hoax, since the web domain registration was atypical of ZeniMax and Bethesda.
The mysterious site TheSurvivor2299.com, which may or may not be teasing Fallout 4, has updated itself with a cipher puzzle, along with the phrase "Nuclear winter has come."
As suspected, TheSurvivor2299.com was a hoax, as the site finally admitted as much with a message directed to fans stating, "Special thanks to /r/Fallout the most amazing community on reddit. PSA: YT User 'Elevated Level', Butch, Liam Neeson and creator of tunnelsnakesrule.com are not responsible for this 'hoax/rickroll'. Ah, and thepropheteer.com is a fake too (Still thumbs up for this guy it looks great!). That's all. I really hope you'll get a real Fallout 4 soon, guys."
Even though TheSurvivor2299 was revealed as a hoax, additional evidence of Fallout 4 production has been leaked.
