DOOM® returns as a brutally fun and challenging modern-day shooter experience.
Another installment of the legendary series of first-person shooters developed by id Software.
Still playing DOOM? Of course you are. We've waiting a long time for Bethesda to deliver unto us a fresh take on th Doom formula, and they delivered in much the same way they did with Wolfenstein.
While a lot of people may have been hoping to see Quake return to its somewhat Lovecraftian roots, instead what we received is Quake Champions, a multiplayer arena shooter. Not that this is a bad thing, but, you know, Quake 1 is one of the greatest games of all time and it’s a shame we aren’t receiving a proper sequel to it, anyway…
Quake Champions is a PC exclusive title, and judging by id Software’s latest comments it seems like the game will not be making its way on to consoles. Creative director Tim Willits had this to say to Gamespot: "It's everything from input sampling of the mouse to making sure that your monitor refresh rate is fast enough. Because even with Quake Live, we have found throughout the years that going from 30 to 60 is huge, but even 60 to 120--is noticeable.
Old school shooter fans are in for another Bethesda-published treat. Following the success of Doom, a new entry in id’s other long-dormant shooter franchise is on the way.
