The first superhero MMO, City of Heroes, had a large following, and constantly innovated, from the highly customizable superhero outfits to the ability of players to build their own instanced missions. Missing Worlds Media is bringing it back, starting a Kickstarter fundraising drive for City of Titans.
NCSoft has announced that there will be no rescue of City of Heroes, and the MMO will be shut down.
Fans of City of Heroes refuse to let the superhero MMO go quietly, as they have amassed 20,000 signatures on an online petition, and even treated the developer Paragon's staff to a meal worth $1000.
City of Heroes is under threat. NCsoft plans to shut the game's online servers down, thus ending over eight years of play time.
