Securing a 95% stake in D3Publisher isn’t enough for Namco, they’ve decided the grass could be greener in that other 5% so they’ll take it too.
The company released a statement that ”announced plans to acquire 100 per cent of D3,” which includes their development studio Vicious Cycle. D3P is ”thrilled to join forces” with Namco.
Namco’s bid for a 95% stake in D3P has cost them around £9 million and completed only yesterday.
”Bandai Namco Games has announced plans to acquire 100 per cent of D3, and its subsidiaries D3Publisher of America and D3Publisher of Europe as well as D3PA’s subsidiary development studio, Vicious Cycle,” revealed a company statement.
”D3Publisher operations will remain unchanged at this time,” it added. ”Development of our current and unannounced titles is ongoing and will move forward as planned.”
”D3Publisher is thrilled to join forces with Bandai Namco Games to further strengthen their position in the US and European marketplaces and continue to make quality games that gamers will enjoy.” So that’s from an initial 70% last month, to yesterday’s 95% of the company before Namco realised they might actually want the entire firm.
