Sonic Generations is a tribute to classic Sonic the Hedgehog games of the past, and Joystiq was curious about whether legacy characters - Tails, Knuckles, and so on - would be in the game.
The blog asked Sonic Team director Hiroshi Miyamoto if such characters would show up in the new game, who responded, "We really wanted to encapsulate 20 years of Sonic characters, so we've got those really memorable bosses, we've got memorable rivals as well that you can play against; so far we've announced Metal Sonic and Shadow."
But when it came to playable characters, Miyamoto stated, "There's many friends in there as well. We've tried to include as many friends as possible," but added, "They're not playable, but there are many friends."
So, it seems that only Sonic himself will be a playable character when Sonic Generations is released in November for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
