Capcom states there are no plans for new Darkstalkers games

During an interview at San Diego Comic Con 2013, Capcom fighting game manager Matt Dahlgren admitted that the recent attempt to reboot Darkstalkers, Darkstalkers Resurrection, did not sell well, and hinted that the IP may be put to rest for the time being.

In the interview, Dahlgren stated, ”Darkstalkers Resurrection did not perform as well as we would have liked to perform.”

He then noted ominously, “You never know what the future may hold, but Street Fighter is definitely not dead,” then said when pressed, “There is nothing Darkstalkers on the immediate horizon for sure.”

It’s also notable that Capcom did not reprise its traditional Darkstalkers Are Not Dead campaign. All of this indicates that Darkstalkers may be dead after all.

Darkstalkers Resurrection was released on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network back in March 2013.
