CD Projekt RED’s senior VP of business and publishing Michal Nowakowski revealed in an interview that a majority of the development team that had been working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have been put on Cyberpunk 2077, and have been ”quite a while right now.”
Cyberpunk 2077 was first announced back in October 2012, and is based on R. Talsorian Games’ dystopian pen-and-paper roleplaying game. The game was dismissed as vaporware for many in the intervening time, before CD Projekt RED revealed that not only was development still continuing, it was shaping up to be “far, far bigger” than The Witcher 3.
As for The Witcher series, there are no thoughts on a The Witcher 4 yet - at least not til Cyberpunk 2077 is finished.
”What we’ve always been saying is that this is the end of the Geralt trilogy in the Witcher world. Whether there’s something around the corner, in the future, I think it’s way too early to say,” Nowakowski stated.
Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to be released sometime in 2017, two years later than its original 2015 estimate.
