Akio Otsuka, the guy who provides the Japanese voice work for Solid Snake himself, says that although Kojima Productions has been “forced to disband”, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is nearly complete and ready to be the team’s final masterpiece.
“Kojima Productions was forced to disband, but it appears that the work that the team has been putting their utmost effort into is nearly complete,” Otsuka wrote in a Twitter post, translated by Gematsu. “I’m not exaggerating when I say that I expect it will become their greatest masterpiece. I couldn’t help it. I just wanted to say ‘Kept you waiting, huh?’ (Laughs.) But even if this is the end, Metal Gear Solid is immortal!”
I don’t know about being immortal, but Konami has already confirmed that Metal Gear will indeed continue as a series once creator Hideo Kojima and his team finally leave the publisher behind for good. We still don’t know the reason behind Kojima and Konami’s falling out, and official lips are remaining tightly zipped.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is out on PC and consoles this September. It’s going to be a real end of an era.
