The latest ’Mortal Kombat X Kast’ livestream (always with the K’s, NetherRealm) may just have revealed some more classic brawlers on their way to the gory fighting game.
During the demo IGN managed to grab a few screenshots that suggest old hands Stryker, Rain, Kabal, Smoke and Cryax will all be making a guest appearance.
This is all as yet unconfirmed by Netherrealm of course, but you can see the names referenced in the images above, taken from the game’s freshly announced ‘Kustom Kombat’ and Test Your Luck’ modes. These are returning modes from previous entries in the franchise, and allow you to play around with various modifiers – those four classic characters were all mentioned amongst the listed options.
They might not be making a direct appearance as controllable characters; the word ‘Assist’ makes me think more of quick summons during battle. We’ll have to wait for Ed Boon and co to fill us in on the details.
Mortal Kombat X is coming to PC and consoles on April 14. Check our recent preview of the charmingly dumb story mode.
