Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is an upcoming metroidvania action-platformer that’s being developed by Inti Creates and published by Deep Silver, after a successful Kickstarter campaign raised $5,545,991 for development.
The game is being led by Koji Igarashi, who’s known for producing the Castlevania series, which Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is considered the spiritual successor for. It was originally meant to be released in March 2017, but according to the latest Kickstarter update the game will now be released in the first half of 2018.
“The last thing I want to do is keep our backers waiting, but after receiving such incredible support, I feel responsible for delivering the best product I possibly can,” said Igarashi in the update. “Again, I offer my sincerest apologies.”
“All of us on the campaign and development sides of the team are looking forward to playing the finished game as soon as we can. We’ll continue to keep you updated on the development process every step of the way… Thanks again for all you’ve done to make such an exciting project possible.”</b>
The extra time will allow the developers to ensure that the game meets Igarashi’s “quality standards”, while additional developers will be brought in to help make that happen.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is set to be released for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PS Vita in 2018.
