Game developer Digital Homicide Studios, made famous for their lawsuit against Jim Sterling, have picked up a new lawsuit. The new suit is against 100 Steam users for negative comments placed on their various games. Some of these comments include claims that Digital Homicide fills the Steam market place with games and then use the Steam Trading Card system to turn a profit. Other Steam users accuse Digital Homicide of the shady practice of continually changing “names for developer and publisher”.
Digital Homicide is reported as asking for 18 Million Dollars in damages by MMO Fallout. It is also reported that Digital Homicide’s James Romine will be representing himself. As of this writing it seems that Mr. Romine has filled the proper documents and granted a subpoena.
These documents have been made available online by critic and Youtuber Sid Alpha who also had some harsh words for and criticisms of the game developer. When giving a brief overview of his history with Digital Homicide’s previous lawsuit, Sid Alpha states “– what I found was not only was it (Sterling’s criticisms) very justified but that Jim Sterling, at least in my mind, was not only completely justified in his opinions he was actually going easy on the Romine brothers.”
Sid Alpha goes on to speak briefly about the precedent that this lawsuit could set. And while a subpoena was granted it as not yet been replied to by Valve. It is anyone’s guess as to what direction this lawsuit will take in the future.
