Godsworn is a mythological RTS game where players lead Pagan Warriors against the forces of Heaven, all set during the Northern Crusades.
If you have fond memories of the classic Warcraft RTS series from Blizzard or the rich oriental mythology of Battle Realms, then Godsworn is a title you should have on your radar.
Godsworn is out today on Steam
Godsworn launches today on Steam as an early access title, featuring a fully voiced story campaign available for co-op play with friends or as a single-player experience.
The initial release includes the first act of the campaign with five missions, and developer Thunderoak Interactive plans to double the content of the campaign, maps, and heroes within a year.
Skirmish maps are available for online play or against AI, with a PvP mode where it’s possible to play with up to eight other players. There are also two defense maps if you want to play the challenge mode for up to 1-3 players.
Each of the 3 playable Baltic Heroes and Order Hero available in early access acquires devoted followers who serve as resource gatherers and can construct buildings, similar to the Peons or Peasants in Warcraft 3 or the villagers in Age of Empires.
Your primary resources will be Food, Wood, Wealth, and Faith, with followers praying to accumulate Faith. This Faith can then be spent on mythical creatures and divine powers to wield against the forces of Heaven.
“During some trips to Latvia, we were inspired by the history of the location, and decided to make the northern crusades the setting of our game.” said Baiba Gedrovica and Corne Willemsen, founders of ThunderOak Interactive.
“The culture and mythology of the Baltic pagans has not been explored in any popular media outside of the Baltic countries (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia) themselves, so we felt that it would be an interesting new setting for a fantasy RTS.”
Godsworn is available in early access today and will be priced at $30 with a 10% discount on launch. Hark back to a classic period of the RTS genre and see what you think.
This is a sponsored post for Godsworn on behalf of ThunderOak Interactive.
