The Funcom guys are more than pleased with themselves to have enjoyed ”one of the largest PC launches in this decade.” No time for a quick nap though.
Aside from planning major content updates for Conan’s online court they’ve also announced The Secret World - another MMO but with a real-world/secret world twist.
Content and fleshing out the PvP is a huge part of the teams focus for Age of Conan which right now has players less than pleased with the gear offerings, which is mainly down to rather obscure statistical figures. Explorable lands are another shortcoming of the online romp right now too, there’s not enough to traipse around compared with others.
Over 800,000 copies have been sold of Age of Conan so it would seem that Funcom have managed to retain over half their base, which seems to be mostly comprised of intellectual 29 year old males say Eurogamer. Not so comforting a thought when getting flirted at by half-naked ‘lady’ avatars.
The Secret World MMO is being handled by a 40-man team and The Longest Journey and Dreamfall’s Ragnar Tørnquist is project lead. Apparently the game will feature real-world cities but gamers access this ‘secret world’ through portals and the like - so presumably no battling knife-wielding, gun-totting punk kids but something more (or less?) sinister.
