Star Wars Zero Company is finally out and making huge waves on PC and consoles, but curious players are wondering if multiplayer is supported or being added in the future before joining the war. Here’s the quick rundown on its co-op possibilities.

Developer Bit Reactor was founded by Firaxis (Sid Meier’s Civilization & XCOM series) veterans, so its makers are familiar with both single-player and multiplayer strategy games. Star Wars Zero Company is set during the Clone Wars, a period that’s full of possibilities for turn-based tactics one way or another. What does the final game actually include, though?

Is There Multiplayer in Star Wars Zero Company?

At the time of writing, no, there’s no support for multiplayer gameplay in Star Wars Zero Company. It’s a story-heavy, single-player game top to bottom, even if the turn-based battles could support optional co-op and/or player-versus-player modes.

One could argue there’s always the possibility of Bit Reactor and publisher Electronic Arts deciding to double down on the game with post-launch support and content that also includes a multiplayer mode after a strong debut (especially on Steam), but looking at its main influences, we believe multiplayer is not a priority for the studio. Moreover, it would also need deep reworks and adjustments to the central progression systems just to work on a basic level.

In the current scenario, modders are the only hope for Star Wars Zero Company players that would love to have multiplayer (co-op or PvP) battles. Right now, we haven’t heard about any multiplayer mods for Zero Company.

As stated before, a lot of work would be required to come up with a convincing and functional take on co-op or PvP for this game. Its narrative-oriented nature makes it hard to crack, and the lack of official modding tools (though basic user-made ones do exist) makes even the basic idea an uphill battle.
