NCsoft will be tripping the kill switch for free-to-play MMO Dungeon Runners on New Year’s eve, because frankly it doesn’t make any money. Its continuation is ”out of the question.”
The game is developed by three guys, and they don’t have the fiscal clout for ”some ideas that could work.” They’d cost too much and are ”pretty risky” so server death is preferable.
”The game just isn’t profitable. And, the first rule of business is to be profitable,” said Dungeon Runners’ producer and lead programmer Stephen Nichols.
”We’ve got some ideas that could work. But, they’re expensive to implement and pretty risky. Those two facts, coupled with the recent loss of some key developers, make achieving the success we seek pretty much out of the question.”
NCsoft will make amends to users by offering digital copies of City of Heroes Architect Edition and Guild Wars Prophecies. No, you can’t have that in the form of cash, quit it.
