Gamefest will run on February 10th and 11th next year in Seattle, where Microsoft reveals they’ll be showcasing Natal’s tech to developers.
They’ll discuss topics like gesture and speech ”recognition,” as well as ”avatar retargeting” and ”advanced raw” streaming. Press will be there.
”Project Natal” not only revolutionizes the way people play games, but also changes the way games are designed and created,” blurbs the bit on ‘Project Natal Design’, one of two Natal topics being addressed at Microsoft’s Gamefest, reports Gamasutra.
The other is ‘Project Natal Technical’, which looks at how the technology works. ”We will explore the depths of this exciting technology and dive deep into gesture recognition, avatar retargeting, speech recognition, advanced raw stream processing, handling different player environments, and many other topics,” it reads.
There’s even an awkward ‘no gamepad needed’ quip.
The best thing about all this is that we get to see, hopefully, an updated iteration of Project Natal which is still believed to arrive sometime in late fall 2010.
