Smedley won’t give an ”exact time frame” for The Agency, but noted they’re ”really proud” how far it’s come along. Either beta or a spin-off is near.
”You are going to see The Agency,” Smedley told GameTrailers, during a GDC interview, reports VG247. ”Here’s an interesting comment I’ll make: you’re going to see something around The Agency very soon, like weeks. And I mean playing within weeks.”
It appears that the espionage MMO is nearing a beta form, however reports suggest that Smedley is in fact referring to some spin-off project that will be playable within weeks that ties into The Agency.
”And the MMO itself, you’re going to be seeing that… I don’t want to give an exact time frame when we’re ready to release it,” continued the SOE president.
”We’re really proud with the progress its made and we’re happy with it internally, but we’re not going to put it out there until we feel like we’ve got something that’s better than everything else, so that’s going to take as long as it takes.”
It’s likely a promotional website or mini game will be debuting soon, which could help drum up awareness - given that The Agency is to support progression that continues while the player is offline, so this may be an offer to ‘level up’ or earn bonuses real early.
