Last month the US sales of Xbox 360 hit 1.7 million units with PlayStation estimated at 900k, which was up 70 percent year-on-year for the Sony hardware. Microsoft achieved 24 percent.
That leaves a rough deficit of 800k units between the two next-gen goliaths, with NPD noting this gap as the ”largest we’ve seen since December 2008” when Nintendo DS was the big cheese.
Nintendo Wii sold 860k units last month, the 3DS 795k and DS just 350k. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 dominated software sales with 9 million spread across all platforms.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim took the second largest slice of the software pie, and is about half a million away from achieving The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’s lifetime sales in just one month. Battlefield 3 is going strong and is crowned the best-selling in the franchise from DICE. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations sold 1.26 million units and is 4th.
These figures came from the NPD for sales between October 30th and November 26th.
