Gamers who were sure that Microsoft would be unveiling the next generation of Xbox this year at E3 2012 will have to wait til next year, as the publisher has officially confirmed they will not be introducing any new console.
Microsoft group PR manager Ryan James wrote in a press statement, ”While we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon.”
”For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360—and it’s the best year ever for Xbox 360. The console is coming off its biggest year ever—a year in which Xbox outsold all other consoles worldwide,” James added.
In January, any ideas of the PlayStation 4 also making its debut at E3 were shot down by Sony and industry analyst Michael Pachter.
