Wonder Boy Returns in Cutesy Anime Fashion

Gone are the days of skillfully crafted sprites and pixel-based backdrops and in come the days of shimmering, sliding anime cutouts presumably made of either oil and/or soap. Wonder Boy Returns, but in a very different style to his original outing. Though the official Youtube trailer is still unlisted, indicating this is more of a leak right now than an official reveal; it also doesn't list any form of release date or platform information. So far, users have dug around and found PlayStation 4 trophy listings listings for the title, but not much else. So take things with a grain of salt for now.

While a farcry from the fantastic looking remake of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, this surprise redoing of the original Wonder Boy is quickly receiving negative feedback for its 'soulless cardboard cutout' design, with many others just speaking up for a re-release of an emulated version in the same vein of the Sega Classics Collection seen on Steam. It's like that Final Fantasy VI 'remake' all over again.
