Update: Somehow being officially revealed ahead of tomorrow's Twitch stream, Funcom have lifted the lid on the first major expansion to Conan Exiles - The Frozen North.
Original Story: Launching earlier this year, Funcom's survival title Conan Exiles basked in launch window sales figures as social networks exploded over its lewd sliders, hilarious bugs and hardcore gameplay, Since then. it's trickled off a little due to the next big survival game, but the developers are committed to keeping it alive. Announcing plans to reveal a new expansion update earlier this week, the date has now been set. Tune into Funcom's Twitch channel at 5pm CEST / 11am EDT / Dam PDT to get your first look at the game's massive upcoming content patch.
We don't know a whole lot about it right now, but what we do know is that it's completely free, will offer up an all-new map and is set to launch on August 16. The last major feature to make it into the exiled lands was the possibility to scale and climb just about any vertical surface - similar to Link in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The update received mixed opinions as the art of building a base on the side of a mountain was now far more susceptible to attack by what players are calling spidermen simply using nothing but their muscle to launch an assault. Past updates have included dungeons and siege weapons - so expect more of that. If you've yet to try your hand at surviving the harsh deserts, keep an eye open this weekend. There's every chance the news will trigger a free weekend to drum up interest, or at least a discount period.
