After carrying the torch for the well over a decade, de_dust2 won't be making an appearance at the next Counter Strike: Global Offensive Major. Cast your mind back a few months and you'll remember the tireless effort to bring the Inferno map back into the meta.
De_Inferno Map Returns to Counter Strike: Global Offensive After A Lengthy Rework
There's no word as to whether de_dust2 has been removed from competitive play for similar reasons to the initial Inferno removal or whether it's gone into the repair shop for some TLC, but what we do know, however, is that isn't still playable as a competitive map for the vast majority of players - it just won't feature at the next major CS:GO competition; a place where it's a fairly unpopular pick, anyway. So don't go expecting that to see AWP spam take hold at a major competition quite as much as de_dust 2 has permitted many times before. It likely hasn't changed much in the public matchmaking, but the Pros won't be seeing it much anymore.
