Player reports indicate that sinking all credits into Heroes allows you to unlock them relatively quickly, especially with the starter bonus credits given to newcomers. However, the actual reward rate has remained largely unchanged, leading to progression bottlenecks. Although EA lowered the price of heroes and temporarily removed microtransactions from the game, they have not adjusted the cost of normal units and star cards. Since the game still gives out credits based on match time and not performance, players are still looking into several hours of grinding before upgrading any non-hero character or ability.
