UPDATE October 31: The Assassin's Creed Odyssey Epic Mercenary Event is still being plagued by Gremlins, and has been cancelled for the second time running.
Ubisoft confirmed to Kotaku that "the production team is investigating and hopes to have more information on an ETA for a fix." So it may be a little while before the live events start.PSA: This week's live event was canceled - apologies for the inconvenience.

Rumor has it that Damais bailed at the very last minute. Apparently, he was intimidated by the idea of facing the misthios. He'll give you a fair fight as soon as we track him down. ⚔️ pic.twitter.com/8NkluGgPkw
Original Story, October 16: Assassin's Creed Odyssey</a> has been released to much critical acclaim, and though the game does have its own special set of problems, it's fun, it's got plenty of longevity, and Ubisoft definitely intend to support it in the long run. One way of them doing so is by kickstarting Assassin's Creed Odyssey Live Events. Assassin's Creed Odyssey's Live Events are special weekly "raids", which will have players complete two particular types of missions which will be rotating interchangeably, one after the other. Live Events include Epic Ships and Epic Mercenaries, which players have to sink and murder, respectively. Since murdering ships is not particularly rewarding on its own, especially ones as difficult as Ubisoft feel epic ships will be, players will get special currencies and resources for completion of Live Events. Wrapping up weekly Live Events will grant you Orichalcum to spend with Sargon, at the Oikos of the Olympians. There, you will find Rare, Epic, and Legendary items for sale, with new inventory arriving on a weekly basis. Alternatively, Orichalcum can also be spent on the game's take on loot boxes, the Olympian Gifts. To participate in Live Events, be on the lookout for special contracts popping up on your in-game quest boards, easily identifiable by the blue Orichalcum emblem next to their title. These are timed, but will rotate back again sometime in the future, so fret not. The very first Live Event is now available; be sure to give it a whirl!
