Assassin's Creed Odyssey Server Status

Why are the Assassin's Creed Odyssey servers down for Maintenance? That's the big question everyone is asking at the moment. Here's the latest on the Server Status, are Ubisoft currently working on getting it back online?

You may have received a message saying the "Assassin's Creed Odyssey services are not available at this time. Please try again later," or "Assassin's Creed Odyssey Disconnected From Server" if you've been trying to play the game today. So, is the game down for maintenance? And if so, why? We've got the answers below.

Ubisoft actually announced the maintenance today on the official Assassin's Creed Odyssey twitter feed, but you may have missed it. "Hey everyone, we'll perform a scheduled maintenance starting at 7AM ET (12PM CET) today. Online services will experience downtime for over 2 hours. Photo Mode (Saving), Oikos of the Olympians, In-Game Store, Daily Quests, Contacts & Live events (Epic Ships/Mercenaries) will be offline and unplayable." Ubisoft didn't say why the servers would be going down, and it doesn't appear to be for a new patch or anything like that, but we'll keep you posted. We're guessing that it's just going to be routine maintenance to make some changes to the servers.
