Europa Universalis 5 update 1.3 release date is now live, as developer Paradox Tinto aims to capitalize on the momentum gained following the launch of the historical grand strategy game’s Fate of the Phoenix DLC to deliver new content and fixes.
Titled Pavia, EU5’s update 1.3 marks the second stop on its rather promising 2026 roadmap and, like with the title’s first free major update, it will first be available in open beta, inviting any interested players to test its planned changes and provide feedback.
Europa Universalis 5 Pavia Update 1.3 Release Date
Europa Universalis 5’s patch 1.3’s release date occurred just a few days after its initial late May window, going live on its dedicated beta branch on June 4, 2026.

“Our target is to take that feedback, iterate, and bring 1.3 to a full release within four to six weeks of the beta opening,” the developer explained when first announcing the update.
EU5’s Pavia update 1.3 will bring “a lot of content, quality of life and game mechanics,” but the team behind the sprawling strategy game is also looking into “memory leaks, rendering performance and the late-game performance,” all of which can hamper the fun as playthroughs progress.
Looking at the 2026 roadmap linked above, the patch should also rework great powers, improve automation, bring additional flavor for Italy, a creditworthiness system, while also touching works of art and chivalric orders.
Looking at its initial open beta patch notes, there are quite a few changes and additions to which we can look forward.
They include ten new generic bureaucracies for the 1600-1836 era, 17 new government reforms locked behind societal values, as well as fresh dynamic historical events for Lucca, Sienna, Pisa, and Montferrat.
The Union of Crowns succession law no longer searches extended family when designing the new king, resulting in fewer random cousins surprisingly ascending to the throne, while the court artist system has been fully reworked, tracking artists as individual entities whose passive modifiers apply while they’re at court.
The list goes on, and you can check it out at the link above.
The scope of each update can, however, change, and we’ll have to wait for its official launch to see what makes it in.
Whether you’ve returned for Fate of the Phoenix or are still waiting on the sidelines, Europa Universalis V’s update 1.3 release date aims to make its lengthy journey through history much more interesting.
