The major Age of Charlemagne expansion for Total War: Attila has been out for the past two weeks, but Creative Assembly has released a new developer diary that gives a history lesson on the legendary Holy Roman emperor who was considered simultaneously a crusader, lawmaker, teacher, and a genocidal despot.

Creative Assembly has announced a new major expansion for Total War: Attila, the Age of Charlemagne, which takes place long after Attila's reign had ended, during the Medieval Age. It will be released on 10 December 2015. The game puts the player in the role of Charlemagne in the year 768 AB, "as one of the greatest kings in history endeavours to bring peace to the continent… by whatever means necessary."
