Mandated Fate is a future-noir social thriller that aims to feed fans of investigation adventure games with plenty of weighty choices and open-ended deduction. Here’s what we know about it so far.
This game comes from Tetrarchy Studios founder and solo developer Thibaut Billerot, who’s promising a detailed and gripping adventure set in a big dystopian retro-futuristic world that’s being built with Unreal Engine 5.
Mandated Fate Release Date
Though private playtests are already underway and we should be getting a public demo soon, Mandated Fate hasn’t locked a release window yet. Expect this to change sooner rather than later though.

Mandated Fate Gameplay
Mandated Fate is an investigation game played in first and third-person camera with social elements and branching dialogue trees first and foremost.
Though specifics haven’t been shared yet, we’ve learned that gadgets can be used to hack security systems, scan samples, and find deeper ties between characters. Exploration is a big part of the core loop, and consequences are around every corner, especially after the main character becomes a pro-empire or dissident investigator based on the player’s actions.
Thibaut Billerot also promises there’ll be no loading times while exploring the neo-brutalist setting. Walk around, drive, or use the subway to get to denser, more complex locations that hide secrets and present new opportunities.
Mandated Fate Story
In Mandated Fate, “you play as a weary inspector, a man with a fraught past, out of place in a newly established authoritarian regime.”
What happened in this setting? “In 1985, a rising technological empire has seized power, driven by a single ambition: to discover the anti-gravity particle and surpass its global rivals by conquering space.” Of course, the regime demands unity, but there’s one district that refuses to obey and is fighting back.
“Assigned to investigate a strange murder there, you quickly find yourself entangled in a deeper web of political intrigue and ideological tension - balancing your loyalty and your life to save what truly matters before the city closes in.”
Further details are being kept a secret for now, but that’s a solid hook. Hopefully, the story will match the allure of this downbeat, dystopian setting.
Mandated Fate Price, Platforms & Pre-Orders
Since Mandated Fate doesn’t have a firm release window or date yet, the definitive price and pre-order details are unknown for now. If we had to guess, the price tag won’t be on the low end for an indie game, but expect it to be well below that of bigger projects.
We know, however, the game is coming exclusively to PC via Steam at launch and won’t be releasing into early access.
