Mina the Hollower is finally out, and while Yacht Club’s latest 2D adventure is less difficult than it looks at first, you might be a bit stumped after wandering into the Backwaters: Shanty Swamp area. Here we’ll tell you the secret to safely crossing the deep water in Mina the Hollower’s Shanty Swamp zone.
Crossing deep water in Mina the Hollower
Up to this point, if you’ve been following the suggested critical path, Mina the Hollower teaches players to clear wider jumps with the burrowing ability; jumping while coming out of the ground allows Mina to jump a bit further. However, that’s not enough to clear the deep water gaps you’ll find as soon as you enter the Backwaters: Shanty Swamp area, which leads to Nox’s Bayou, one of the game’s main zones.
The secret is to actually dive headfirst into the deep water using Mina’s burrowing ability (instead of starting to burrow on solid ground). You can cover just enough underwater ground that way to jump out of the water and on to safety. Just make sure to hold down the burrowing button before touching the water’s surface.
It’s an easy solution to a problem that had me stumped for like 5 minutes too, wondering if I had completely messed up the intended progression (since you can’t back out of the Shanty Swamp at first). However, be warned: The following swamp area and Nox’s Bayou are quite brutal and will test the limits of your platforming skills.
