Is Retro Rewind coming to consoles, and does it have a release date for PS5, Xbox, and Switch? Blood Pact Studios’ addition to the growing store sim subgenre has drawn quite a bit of attention since its PC launch on March 17, begging the question of whether its initial success might see it making the jump to other platforms.
Having sold more than 100,000 copies in the first five days since launch, and with additional content already confirmed, here is what we know about a potential Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator console release.
Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator PS5, Xbox, and Switch Release Date
When developing Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator, developer Blood Pact Studios clearly prioritized its PC version, and a FAQ post on Steam doesn’t leave us too optimistic about seeing the game released on PS5, Xbox, and Switch in the near future.
“We are currently focused on making the best PC game possible. Please don’t expect console ports. We have optimized Retro Rewind for performance, so it should run well on a wide range of systems,” the developer wrote.

At the moment, at least, it seems pretty clear that console versions of Retro Rewind are not on the cards. The developer is focused on delivering the content promised in its roadmap for its PC version, which is understandable, given the small size of the team working on the game.
Although Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator isn’t coming to consoles any time soon, there still is a slight chance that a PS5, Xbox, and Switch release date might materialize further down the line.
Other indie projects that started as PC-only made the jump after they became successful, so the game’s sales going forward and the developer’s willingness to increase the size of its team play heavily into this.
We’ll have to see whether or not that actually happens. Should we catch wind of any news regarding a Retro Rewind console release date, we’ll update this article.
