The Crysis developer has said their move to go multi-platform is not over their concerns for software piracy on the PC but because it’s ”a logical step”.
CryEngine 2 is yet to be announced in any upcoming Xbox360 or PS3 project - with E3 almost around the corner that could all change.
”In terms of development for the consoles, this is certainly a logical step for us with the CryEngine 2 supporting multiplatforms,” stated Alexander Marschal, Crytek Community Manager.
”This is not a decision that was driven by the piracy issues on the PC platform, and this definitely does not mean we will lower the quality of our upcoming PC titles. We are known for our next-gen technology and rest assured that we will continue developing high quality games, and getting the most out of each platform.”
This was detailed in Crytek’s Monthly Update, along with news that no new patch will be released for Crysis as they plan an announcement later this month to explain why.
