Yes, that’s right. 20th Century Fox and The Multiverse Network are sharpening their stakes, polishing crosses and, erm, other Slayer related preparations.
The game will apparently be available in full 3D or as a 2D Flash game, where both will be able to interact with one another. Beta testing begins this year. Five by five.
Speaking at the Virtual Worlds Conference, Multiverse producer Jon Landau unveiled the impending online world of Buffy Summers. Multiverse ”enables development teams to create high-quality, unique, and engaging virtual worlds and MMOGs faster and for less cost than ever before,” says their official site blurb.
”As a brilliant storyteller and world-maker, Joss Whedon crafts stories that expand perfectly into the new medium of virtual worlds,” said exec producer Corey Bridges.
”Not to give away too much, but when the ‘Buffy’ team finished the television series, they created the perfect launching point for an MMOG where everyone will feel like they’re an important character in the ongoing story.”
There’s very little detail to go on for the moment, and certainly no clues on price plan. The apparent knock-on effect is the upcoming Firefly MMO will be pushed back to make way for The Slayer - but I never watched that one so…
