GSC Game World has said a console version of their apocalyptic first-person shooter will depend upon how well the upcoming prequel is received on PC.
Oleg Yavorsky of GSC described consoles as ”basically a platform to let you earn some cash for the company,” with the PC you can ”get your heart and soul” into the game.
Aside from the titles success they would also need to first get to grips with console development which has its ”restrictions” as there’s ”lots of things to comply with”.
”We are experimenting at the moment. But the plan is to bring something to the console later. Clear Sky is going to be PC only. Later on it depends on how successful and how fast we can master it,” Yavorsky told VideoGamer.com at a press event for Clear Sky.
”We received all the necessary permissions and licenses and dev kits and we’re just starting to get familiar with the technology.” In any case the official line from GSC Game World is simply this: ”it’s too early to talk about it”.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky is being released exclusively on PC this late August.
