While the whole prospect maybe a little ”overwhelming sometimes” admits LucasArt’s Tom Nichols, they’re hungry for the challenge ahead.
He believes the pact between LucasArts, BioWare and EA will deliver this most ambitious Star Wars project to date, outside of the movies of course. Still no date for it yet.
”Daunted? I don’t know if I’d use that word,” said Nichols, speaking to VG247. ”I’m bullish, I’m optimistic. I think it’s a huge opportunity for us, and for BioWare and EA.”
”It is, in a sense, overwhelming sometimes when you think about it, when you think about the amount of work that we have to do, and the amount of content that we’re building, all the things you have to have in place to successfully launch a large-scale MMO: that’s a lot of work, absolutely.”
The Old Republic is set thousands of years before the events of Episodes I to VII, that means there’s an awful lot of lore to make up which is creatively freeing but costly.
Despite all the possible niggles, Nichols is adamant they’re ”all looking forward to the challenge.” This will be both BioWare and EA’s first ever trip into MMO land and the expectations are high, very high.
