The software giant has come clean about boosting their development force which is working with Peter Jackson and Bungie on ”that project.”
Bungie still maintain community relations and release content for Halo however their own latest project is not set within the Halo universe.
The new job postings will have the prospective developers working at Microsoft’s Redmond, Washington offices and make no mention of working with Bungie on the project. The collaboration between the company and director Peter Jackson has been kept very quiet and generally low key.
”Microsoft Game Studios has been hard at work collaborating with Peter Jackson and Bungie on the development of that project.”
”At this time, it’s necessary to grow the internal team to keep pace with development. Bungie will continue to remain involved in multiple aspects of the Halo Universe with MGS.”
They’re looking for a Creative Director, one that will be expected to ”partner with key Hollywood talent to collaboratively craft a masterful game experience” and “collaborate with game play designers, story writers, game writers, and said external luminary to deliver on a unique game in the Halo universe.” This external luminary isn’t named anywhere but chances are high the finger points to a certain Lord of the Rings director.
Peter Jackson’s impact on the Lord of the Rings and King Kong has been immense and brought the former out of the literary shadows. If anyone could help Halo accomplish even more success it would be the likes of Jackson.
