Analyst Doug Creutz says publisher EA has ”largely missed this console cycle,” and believes the company is far from anyone wanting to possibly acquire it right now.
Creutz also lowers hopes of BioWare’s upcoming Dragon Age: Origins by 550,000, bringing it under 1.5 million copies sold. Need for Speed: Shift won’t reach a million within a year.
”We continue to believe that EA has largely missed this console cycle, and despite recent speculation, we believe it is highly unlikely that EA will be an acquisition target due to a variety of factors,” wrote Cowan and Company analyst Doug Creutz.
Dragon Age: Origins, Dead Space: Extraction and Need for Speed: Shift will all under perform in sales predicts the analyst. However The Beatles Rock Band will outsell Guitar Hero 5 in the US, shifting 3.5 million copies in the region. Rock Band 2 will manage 2.2 million.
Not the cheery optimism EA was likely hoping for. Analysts - what a bunch of downers.
